More efficiency and speed in the system

Would you like standard or customized?

PIM - Product Information Management - is the central system for collecting and managing all product-related information. Standardized PIM systems perform well as long as the product ranges are not too large and complex.
One system - different requirements
Compiling and maintaining product ranges is no trivial matter - it is a complex interplay of suppliers, purchasing processes, target groups, trends and analyses. The product information collected can usually be divided into two categories: On the one hand for procurement and logistics processes and on the other hand for sales. The requirements of purchasing and sales are quite different.
Does your PIM match your product range?
The product ranges of major players in e-commerce are extensive, but also diverse. In practice, we see that a standard PIM works well for around 80 percent of the product range, but not for the last 20 percent. These 20 percent are often the part that is important for market positioning. This often results in time-consuming and cost-intensive adjustments to the standard PIM software.
Why PIM projects often fail
Standard PIM systems perform well, but have their limits. Customizing a system can be tricky, because the further you move away from the standard, the more difficult and expensive it can be to keep the system fit for the future. We have also seen individual PIM developments fail because the system became too large and too complex.

"Sales is often more willing to experiment than other areas - can your PIM system provide flexible support?"

Splitting as a solution for more efficiency and speed
PIM projects can be divided into several areas, depending on requirements: A procurement-oriented system that is used for product onboarding. This area can be mapped by standard PIM systems. Another area is the sales-oriented preparation of data so that customers are presented with products in the best possible way.
Pre-PIM and post-PIM - decoupling without separation
With add-ons - such as pre-PIM and post-PIM - large and diverse product ranges overcome the limitations of standard PIM systems. Thanks to decoupled, but not separate systems, even the "complicated" 20 percent of the product range can be easily integrated into the system. neuland develops pre-PIM and post-PIM for the optimal connection and preparation of data. In doing so, we draw on experience from successful customer projects.

"The complexity of special ranges is often underestimated and quickly pushes standardized systems to their limits."
